UC Davis, Girl Scouts Heart of Central California Partner on Patch Series Focused on Healthy Outside Initiative
The University of California, Davis, and Girl Scouts Heart of Central California, or GSHCC, have teamed up to encourage Girl Scouts in the region to participate in a custom patch series with activities that take participants through various areas of the university campus and expose Girl Scouts to STEM-specific majors and colleges within the university.

UC Davis Creates New Pathway to Medical School that Starts in Community College
UC Davis has received a $1.8 million grant to create a robust pre-med pathway for rural college students. It’s the university’s latest initiative to boost the number of primary care physicians in underserved parts of Northern California.
The new pathway, known as Avenue M (the M is for Medicine) will identify community college students interested in studying health sciences. Staff will provide academic support, ensure students’ seamless transfer to any of three participating four-year colleges, then steer them toward the UC Davis School of Medicine.

Summer Classes, Mentors Support Pakistani Women's Growth
For the first time in Summer 2020, UC Davis hosted 3 students virtually as a part of the Sister2Sister Exchange Program. Students were able to participate in two courses, develop relationships with both a faculty and peer mentor, and culminate their experience with a Women in STEM Panel.

Arpana Vaniya a ‘Trailblazer’ in Mentoring
Arpana Vaniya, academic coordinator in the West Coast Metabolomics Center at the UC Davis Genome Center, recently received a Trailblazer Award for Mentoring from Million Women Mentors, a global movement to spark interest and confidence in girls and women to pursue STEM careers and leadership.

UC Davis Receives $1.1M to Invest in STEM Education for 11-Year-Old Girls
University of California, Davis, is creating a program to mentor 15,000 11-year-old girls in California during the next year in an effort to close the gender gap in STEM learning. The program is now called DCI STEM.
